Fun With Sidewalk Chalk
Sidewalk chalk is always fun and has so many possibilities. It is important to let your child be creative and have fun expressing themselves, while they practice sounds
Games In The Car
The typical alphabet game is when you take turns thinking of objects (food or animals) that start with each letter of the alphabet. When playing the game when targeting sounds of speech it is similar. Choose a letter and take turns thinking of words that start with that letter, until someone gets stumped.
At The Playground
The playground is a great place to practice targeted sounds. For instance, if you are working on the letter /b/ sound, by making a point to say words with that letter, “big” push on the swing or going down the “big” slide;. For the letter /p/ you can have your child “push” a stuffed animal down the slide. Practice the /s/ by saying the sound all the way down the slide “ssssss”. You can practice any sound on the playground
Fun In The Sand
Whether it’s the beach or the sand box in the backyard, everyone loves playing in the sand. Make it an activity that incorporates speech by burying picture cards or objects and let them dig them up. Have them say the object or say the word on the picture card, before putting it in their sand pail.
